💬 Back in college, I majored in Spanish and spent time studying in Mexico and Costa Rica. At one point, I was fluent—but that was in 1997! Since then, I haven’t practiced speaking much.
👩‍👧‍👦 Over the past eight years, my family has had five live-in Au Pairs from Spanish-speaking countries like Costa Rica, Colombia, and Panama. I encouraged them to speak only Spanish with my children to help them become fluent. While I’ve gained a lot of listening comprehension, speaking still feels like a hurdle for me.
📞 Yesterday, while interviewing our sixth Au Pair, I had a breakthrough. The entire interview was conducted in Spanish, and I understood nearly everything! However, responding in Spanish wasn’t as easy, and it reminded me how much I need to practice speaking.
That’s when inspiration struck—what if I could create an AI-powered voice agent to help me improve?
🚀 Today, I made it happen! I built an AI agent fluent in both English and Spanish:
âś… It asks basic questions in Spanish.
âś… It helps me form responses and corrects pronunciation.
âś… It provides English explanations if I get stuck.
But that’s not all—I also created a reverse agent to help Spanish speakers improve their English! 🌎
✨ What makes this tool special?
💻 I can practice through voice and even read the text on my PC—perfect for building confidence without the pressure of live conversations.
⏳ I can learn at my own pace, on my own terms.
🤖 This project has been a game-changer for me, blending technology and language learning in a way that feels natural and accessible.
What This Means
UponAI content is built around production use, not generic AI positioning. The goal is to help teams understand how routing, call handling, automation, and human handoff behave once the system is part of daily operations.
